Looking at moving a name to 123-Reg, but get an error message:

Domain isn't eligible for transfer at this time.

Tried it with a few .co.uk names and same result.

Is anyone else getting this error when trying (no need to complete the transfer if you don't!)

Thanks in advance.

Do you need to change the domain to the 123 reg tag before requesting the transfer? Might be why it is giving that message?

Just an idea.

Hmmm. Not sure. I know when I've moved domains to other domain companies I've changed the tag first then requested transfer.

BTW, I'm getting that same message when trying a couple of my domains too.

Thanks, Lee. Will contact them.

Thanks, Lee. Will contact them tomorrow.

Just phoned them. They do want a transfer request before IPS Tag release, but the support guy was getting the same error so has passed it on to tech team for tomorrow.

Nice one.

Fingers crossed they sort it for you quickly.

I've had this before when the domain used to be registered at 123-reg in someone elses account.

They said I had to get the other person to transfer the domain to me using the account transfer system. When I said I had no idea who it was (I'd caught it, I think) they basically just shrugged their shoulders and that was that.

This was a couple of years ago though.

Just go through Nominet if all else fails.

Their Wikipedia entry begins:

"123 Reg is a British domain registrar and web hosting company founded in 2000 and now under the ultimate ownership of GoDaddy."

I didn't bother to read any further.

Is there not some anti-compete law that stops companies doing this.

Looking at moving a name to (blah), but get an error message:

Once in every thousand cycles, the planets align in a configuration that allows the universe to save you from yourself ;)

For some of the GD brands you can't (without their support getting involved) transfer names which already exist in their database as either unreconciled previous transfers out or existing pending transfers in - might not be the issue, but is one that comes up frequently.

The 2 steps are needed for most registrars, just be very careful about tag-change before transfer order ( I would suggest actively avoiding registrsrs where it's that way round ).

Whilst not as common a scam as back in tbe early 2000s, miscreants look for domains on certain tags, then 'order' them in their own accounts - directi and enom were the common targets 2 decades ago - effectively stealing names where the transfer-order step had been missed ( or simply not done yet ).

Yes, I have had that before, but this issue seems to affect all .co.uk and .uk names unless currently with 123-Reg. If you put a name in that is currently registered to 123-Reg, it says so, but every other name I have tried gives the "Domain isn't eligible for transfer at this time" error.

Quick update: looks like the problem still exists, but 123-Reg support put this one through so all good now.
