You'd have to have been in a pretty deep state of hibernation to have missed the recent tux.co.uk/uk saga and @sam unfortunate misstep in accidentally 'cancelling' (which really should be changed to 'Delete' @nominet) both domains while attempting to cancel a pending transfer:

I am not sure if it was discussed in the thread, but since the dust has settled and the bad luck story turned into a heart-warming tale of goodwill and community, I have been meaning to check if having the clientDeleteProhibited status set in 'EPP Statuses' would have prevented this. I checked this morning and can confirm that it does stop the name from being accidentally deleted in the Nominet Online Services Registrants Control Panel, as shown below:
EPP Statuses Settings
Selected EPP Statuses
EPP Statuses Once Set
View Domain EPP Status
Controversial Cancel Button in Registant Online Services
Result When Clicking the Button When clientDeleteProhibited Set
I am now beginning the process of adding this status to all of my domains and exploring an option to automatically set this using EPP.
I appreciate it is unlikely to happen again, but lightning can strike twice, and we have seen that Nominet will sit on their hands if it does.
