Nominet launched .uk! 🥳

Stephen Fry was the first to make the switch to .uk with StephenFry.uk and today he is back using StephenFry.com

Nominet also paid to put a rather large banner in a field! (y)

12 years on and all that has happened is that our yearly domain renewal bills have doubled and non domain types are still confused!

Thanks for reading my little trip down memory lane! :p

Don't get me started Lee - I was just chilling out this evening - to be reminded of this :)

12 years - time flies - a couple of my memories - Nominet denied it was a money grabbing exercise but wasn't £20 a domain suggested when it was first mooted. And do you remember when they refused to email all existing registrants to get feedback because it could be seen as 'spamming'!! In the end, after a great battle, we got the best result we could, and yes we're all paying more on renewal fees and it has meant the .uk market has lagged behind others like .de
