BBC Domain Fail

Lol. I own a domain that was featured in a BBC show. Frequent occurrence.

BBC are being watched and listened too less and less nowadays, so not really much to worry about.

Have you got a reputable data source for this? I like seeing trends over time.

My immediate assumption of an increased number of people consuming news/media via social networks somehow seems to be worse for society as a whole when compared to something like the BBC, regardless of your personal opinion.

That's a great case study example for the importance of consumer online safety and security.

I quite often pay attention to the use of domain names in old TV series (currently rewatching 24), and checking any domain names when they're mentioned.

I often wonder if domain names in this instance should be renewed in perpetuity? It's obviously an ongoing cost that somebody needs to pick up, but I think there could be an argument for this to be a requirement for online safety.

In perpetuity is a bit extreme, but certainly a couple of years in the case of a one-off broadcast like this, and much longer in the case of a successful feature film.

I had to laugh at the BBC adopting their usual "nothing to see here" stance.

A spokesman for the BBC said: “As much as people may wish to take a trip to ‘Borsetshire’ for a pint of Shires in The Bull or a walk up Lakey Hill, we think listeners will be aware The Archers is a drama, set in a fictional location, and as the characters have made clear during BBC Scam Safe week – the website is best avoided.”

It reminded me of this thread from Acorn's heyday:

Helmuts will now be scurrying over here to find out why a decade-old thread has been linked to from 4m, which will give him the opportunity to sign up and share the latest news on Deep Joshi's training, Las Vegas, and Ryan's latest flounce.

Go on Helmuts, you know you want to!

IT crowd had howlonghaveyougot.com on it, a death clock. That was a live site for fun for a bit, not made by the English Bashing corp though.
