Flip.uk is shutting down announcement

Helmuts has posted on DNForum giving an explanation (of sorts) as to why he won't be doing so:

https://www.dnforum.com/threads/rya...-flip-uk-and-brandable-uk.624380/post-2403811

I suspect the main reason is that he doesn't have the technical knowledge to run any of them.
Thanks for posting that link, Jeff. Quite hilarious, in my expert opinion, I find the perceived industry clown's posts bewildering and delusional beyond comprehension. Why the hell would the likes of GD, Sedo, and all the major players give a damn if Meskonis takes over the 3 Aftermarket platforms, Ryan, Jeff, and Mo are closing down? Anyone involved in a rival enterprise would surely hope, in my opinion, that Meskonis take them on, which would ensure the destruction of 3 three platforms, removing competitors from the domain aftermarket space. He is still as delusional as ever in my opinion, and still just as entertaining to those who like to laugh at clueless stupidity.

Is Meskonis Acquiring.png

Like you and @Ree, I'm not quite sure what Frank meant by that post, but I'd hazard a guess that he was suggesting Helmuts acquire the three closing platforms.
Frank Says Be Gone Chat.png

I wonder which 'super-experienced' forum webmaster Bellmuts is talking about. Could it be the case that Frank has manifested once more, the clouds parting and a huge bellowing booming squeaky little voice from the sky, 'Asscorn chat be gone!'? 🤣 Is the Asscorn owner capable of deciding anything himself? Is the reason he is giving for closing the chat feature genuine? All I know is that if there is ever a global toilet roll shortage, Frank need not worry with Bellmuts on all fours following around like a little lapdog!

Good afternoon comrades,

For those interested in how this mega poll concluded, I have the results. What does this mean for the industry, not just in the UK but globally? 😱

The industry expert who initiated the poll (Ugly mug shown above) gave a time scale of 2 weeks (14 days) for the poll to run, so the millions of expected participants would get their vote. These kinds of super-heavy traffic load events will always cause server slowdowns and even crashes, so the generous time frame was vital. I'm just a little confused with the figures, though 🤔 @ when the votes are added together, they equal 150% as it appears there were 3 options to choose from in this particular mega poll. I know when vast amounts of votes are collected and processed, there can be room for errors. IDK, maybe chubby Andrew can stop searching the whois for a couple of minutes and put down his sack of doughnuts and give me a hand with the figures, after all, I see he loves doing such things with other people's numbers, so he may wish to help me out with this complex mathematical conundrum.

I will now await the announcement as to the implications of this massive demonstration of public opinion on such a matter of global importance. Maybe your very own superhero from Canada's premier domain forum can shed some light on what all this means.

Meskonis, you have done a fantastic job of destroying your own reputation within the domain space, mate. You don't need my help, you 🤡

Anyway, take a deep breath and have a large shot of Brandy at the ready. See the results below.

I would have liked to have seen 'Brandable.uk' adhere to its namesake rather than functioning as a generic listing site...
I thought there could have been space for that...

The lack of engagement with Helmuts' "troll poll" is emblematic of how far Acorn has fallen on his watch. Even his two mods didn't bother to vote. On the plus side, if nobody is posting then there are no insults, so he probably thinks all is well.

More significantly, the 27th has been and gone and both Flip and Brandable are still up. Flip currently has 50 live auctions, with one of them scheduled to run for another 13 days.

Flip, Brandable and DNWE now forward to 👇

The word scrapyard is principally British English, so this is likely a new Falbros venture in the wider digital space to mirror its Oxygen service in the UK.

DigitalScrapyard.com is registered with Domains By Proxy and is on Cloudflare nameservers which fits the Falbros profile.

Quite sad really, and you have to wonder whether things would have turned out differently if he hadn't alienated half his potential customers by getting UKDNF closed down. In that respect he and Helmuts are two of a kind. Not quite the two tigers that Helmuts once compared them to, but I'll allow them Bagpuss and Garfield.

I'm also surprised that he's just closed them down, given that the acquisition costs (in the case of Flip) and the development costs (in the case of Brandable) are sunk costs. Does anyone have any idea how much it costs to maintain (as opposed to develop) sites like these?

And other than what @Kaleido has said above, does anyone know anything about digitalscrapyard.com? An awful domain name IMHO, with very negative connotations. Registered in 2016 with nothing on the Wayback Machine since then other than a GoDaddy sales lander, and no ownership information on a home page that was last modified Tuesday afternoon.

There’s no privacy policy? I’m pretty sure that’s a legal requirement.
