Shame so many members who'd signed up to go couldn't make it - based on the unclaimed badges ~50% didn't go
Good to have time with a couple of the board not regularly seen - lots of feedback on Registrar challenges given to them by several of us. The limited overall time of the event did mean little more than an across-the-room nod was all could be managed to some due to depth/length of interaction with others - more frequent meetups and more members actually going is the fix to that !
A few of the Nominet staff often encountered at these things absent - I gather that partially was to balance the ratio of Member to Nominet , plus obv. their own lives/commitments - I'm sure Sept will allow for catching up with Gordon, Elaine, Phil, Cara etc
The Ashmoleum is nice enough - although no tour this time - but my preference would have been London for a summer social - more travel for staff but somewhat easier for members to get to, which
might improve attendance.
Across the attending members - some new faces, some old faces ( in 'Nominet-time' ) - some handing over the batton, some introducing new blood.
For those on-the-fence about coming next time, it's not all dry-and-staid talks sbout EPP status values and spending of 'surplus' and domain contact legitimacy checks - there is of course that - but also ...
