Register an Australian domain

Hoping someone can help with this.

I'm looking into expanding our services into Australia, and of course No.1 on the list of jobs is to secure a .com.au domain.

Has anyone had experience of trying to register one of these, or tricks to jump through the various hoops?

Do you have a legal-entity in AU ( and does that entity have an ABN ) ?

There are some 'local' registeries of state logged sole-traders and thd like, but in general in the last 5yrs you csn only get ( and keep - they do audit existing regs ) a .com.au if you are zn Australian business.
