I’ve recently had a scenario where I sold a domain at DL and the buyer wouldn’t take it from my tag.

Buyer paid immediately and wasn’t a tag holder so I offered to change registrant credentials and release to tag of his choice - Godaddy, 123 etc. sent full instructions and each time he promised he’d set the domain up, but when I released it it was rejected.

So I opted to transfer using the £12 Nominet option. This was attempted twice and both times he claimed not to get the email (Nominet confirmed he had or at least their system showed it as generated).

So I now have his domain, registered to him on my tag. As I don’t want to offer ongoing administration, I’ve set it to expire in 12 months and plan to send a reminder as a courtesy but otherwise it will lapse.

Anyone else had anything like this? What’s your opinion on my obligations as I was paid successfully?

Cheers
Paul

Have you emailed him to tell him about this? If you have, then you've done all you can.

Alternative option would be to say you're willing to renew it for many years at an additional fee... Add plenty of margin on though 😊.

That's what I'd do anyway.

Yeah I have. That’s what I believe too, done all I can. I’ve both released and Nominet transferred successfully during the same period as well. Really odd.
