Sin City Summit?

Initially, I thought Helmuts might have been considering the idea of hosting a 'DomainSummit' in Vegas around mid-April 2025, based on this thread on X and his reply to Ryan.. . 'What if we did this in Vegas? .. thinking about mid-April? And, we would donate $25k to charity to host this event.'"

Intriguing! Chicago, London, Beijing...
New York, Paris, Peckham more like.

I see he's planning to introduce a dress code:

Please note that the dress code for Domain Summit Chicago 2025 is Smart Casual. Attendees are expected to maintain a professional yet relaxed appearance. Kindly be aware that no attendees wearing shorts will be admitted to the convention. Thank you for helping to maintain a professional atmosphere.

I wonder if that could possibly be aimed at the slob in flip-flops on the left of this picture:

More seriously, it's his money of course, but I really think he should get the London summit to at least break-even before trying to expand into markets that he knows even less about. Notwithstanding that China is a big market for domains, does he speak any Mandarin, or know anything about Chinese culture?

Exactly what I was thinking. Having 3 loss-making summits a year and three times as much hassle (or more if you factor in the language barrier) sounds like a recipe for trouble. Then again I guess it is possible that his summit concept may flourish better in the US or China and if so he could focus on the successful location for the future.

For the US one I think he should team up with one of the main .com domain auctioneers. There would be a lot more of a buzz to the summit if there were some top domains being auctioned off and a room full of deep pocketed investors. The current set up with one speaker after another telling a room full of people about what they do when everyone already knows what they do is just boring.

The thing is, if he had have been a little less heavy handed with Acorn, he might have had a nice free thinktank to help him generate ideas for these domain summits.

Also, does anyone else think dress code events are boring? A little too demanding for me. I'd definitely turn up in Vilebrequins.

All these events just seem to be a huge advertising campaign for it.com sub-domains.

The latest ac**n banner appears to indicate they are pivoting?

Interesting, I hadn't noticed that, and it's the same with the ad on the right hand side, and with both their ads on DNForum.

Furthermore, if you click on any of those ads, the page you're taken to doesn't mention subdomains, or contain any links to pages that do mention them. You have to go to the it.com homepage (which redirects to get.it.com) to find them.

Having been a cheerleader for the subdomains, it's strange that Helmuts hasn't mentioned this change of focus on either Acorn or DNForum.

Despite his silence, I see they've thrown him a bone by appointing him as an "advisor"! Advisor on what FFS?

"No legacy code bugs or limitations"?

I'm confused by that statement.

RSP platforms were the bulk of the advertisers at ICANN-IST a few weeks ago - I gather most are betting on a massive number of round-2 applicants being incompetent and thus unable to write their own code, git-pull an open source one or simply use a search-engine to find an established rsp offering it free-for-3-years :p

dotITdotCOM confirmed at ICANN they're not planning on continuing with their (previously announced) CentralNIC/TI system for a back-end.

What a confusing web page. I hate when they can't convey properly what it is they actually do. It's all fluff and buzz words, the copy is useless. I read the whole website and still have no idea what it is RSP.it.com is supposed to be achieving.

When you decide to launder some of your ill-gotten gains by launching the .ben gTLD, they're offering to take care of the technical side for you.

At least, I think that's what they're offering, but what Helmuts brings to the party is beyond me.

If anyone want to invest in my idea, please contact my managing agent @rdce80 for investment opportunities, it's definitely not a rug-pull.
